The Minnesota Moose ran into a tough goalie, for two periods at least, finally getting him in the third period and going on to route the Rochester Vipers on Saturday night 10-1. 

The Moose welcomed in the Rochester Vipers last Saturday night to Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minnesota and were looking to extend their one game winning streak. The Vipers were looking for their first win since October 19th when they knocked off the Dells Ducks. head coach Jon Jonasson would have to sit this one out while  assistant coach Nick Blanchette would take the reins as bench boss. Eventually picking up his first win leading a bench in the USPHL. 

The first period looked like a shooting gallery at times. The Moose offense got off 24 shots on the Vipers starting goalie, Jake Snellenburg, but he seemed to hold up well. Ike Frankel would get the Moose on the board as he beat Snellenburg on the backhand for the periods only goal.

The Moose were able to put a little more distance  between the two teams in the second period. Goals by Justin Dumont and Matteo Menotti made it 3-0 to end the second period. Snellenburg was still impressive in turning away 35 of the first 38 shots he saw in the first two periods. 

The Vipers were able to bring it within two goals again when Ryan Gamber scored early in the third period to make it 3-1. That hope of a comeback wouldn't last long. Just 44 seconds later James Frantz put in a short handed goal to bring the lead back up to three goal at 4-1. Then the wheels really came off for the Vipers and Snellenburg. The Moose piled on 7 goals in the third period alone and ended up chasing Snellenburg from the game. Brendon Jones ended up with a hat trick in that goal barrage as well as goals from Cody Carlson and Eli Kopish. Menotti would also net his second goal of the game. Patrick Cristo came in to relieve Snellenburg and stopped five of six shots in his short stint. The Moose gave the crowd a third period to remember and came away with a 10-1 victory. 

Mason Palmer had a quiet night in net for the Moose, giving up just one goal and stopping 15 of 16 shots to grab his second win of the year. The Moose now sit in 3rd place at 11 wins and 3 losses for 22 points. The Moose are 4 points out of 1st place with 2 games in hand. 

The Moose will travel a short distance to Dinkytown next as they'll play two games with the Minnesota Mullets on the University of Minnesota campus. On Thursday night the game will be at Mariucci Arena and Friday night will be at Ridder Arena. Games times for both nights are a 6:30 PM start. 

The next home game for the Moose will November 15th when they welcome in the Rochester Vipers for their third match-up of the season.  Roll Moose!
