Moose Tab Mendenhall as Assistant Coach/ Director of Recruiting

The Minnesota Moose of the United States Premier Hockey League have announced the hiring of Blake Mendenhall a 25-year-old Anchorage, AK native.

Mendenhall joins the Moose after coaching with
the Helena Bighorns of the NA3HL as Head coach
and Assistant coach in 2015-2016. In 2016-2017
Blake served as a director of recruiting for the
Breezy Point North Stars in the NA3HL.
Mendenhall and Coach Jonasson will be entering
their 3rd year of building reputable developmental
programs that focus on player development and
advancement. Blake has been coaching since the age of 19 working with players from mites through the junior level. He has a very in-depth knowledge of goaltending and the defensive end of the game.

Prior to coaching Mendenhall played Junior hockey for the Alaska Avalanche of the NAHL and the Idaho Steelheads of the WSHL tending the net. In High School Blake was the only unanimous decision as player of the year in 2009-2010 season. When with the Idaho Steelheads Blake and his team went on to win 2 league titles in the WSHL and a National Championship in 2013. Blake was the top goalie in the WSHL in both years he played within the league. Following Juniors, he played for the University of Montana Bozeman tending net for their ACHA D2 program.

“We are very excited to have Blake part of the Minnesota Moose inaugural season as an assistant coach and director of recruiting. Blake is very driven and passionate about the game of hockey. With Blake on staff we know we have one of the best staffs in the USPHL.” Said Head Coach Jon Jonasson

Along with manning assistant coach duties Blake will also work very closely with the Minnesota Moose goaltenders providing them the one on one instruction needed at the junior level to succeed. In his short time coaching at the Junior hockey level Blake has assisted 6 goalies achieve NCAA and NAHL success.

Blake resides in Blaine with his girlfriend Kara and two dogs.
