Moose Win Home Opener of Inaugural Season

Blaine, MN—After a long 3 months of preparing, recruiting, moving in, and introducing the Moose to the community, the Minnesota Moose took care of business in the Home Opener Friday, September 15th vs the neighboring Minnesota Mullets.

The Moose came to Fogerty Ice Arena looking for a home for many years to come and that it just might be with the warm welcome the Moose received from the fans who came pouring in to see the new Hometown team. Nearly 1000 fans filled Fogerty Arena Friday night assisting the Moose in a 4-2 victory in a penalty filled first game for the team based in Blaine, MN.

All it took was 5 minutes and 47 seconds into the first period, of the first ever period for the Moose to net its first goal scored by #13 Gavin Proeh(Chicago, IL) with assist being credited to #44 Dylan Gast(White Bear Lake, MN). Not to long after that the Mullets answered back after some sloppy Defensive zone play. Nearly 5 minutes after the Moose first goal, #11 Josh Morrison(San Diego, CA) pulled the puck across the blue line and ripped a wrist shot on net to gain his first junior goal. The Moose would go on in the 2nd period to net two more goals from #94 Jacob Harding(Denver, Colorado) and #7 Matej Krasny(Pilsen, Czech Republic). Other players receiving assists in the game were #13 Gavin Proeh, #11 Josh Morrison, #6 Jesse Anderson and #21 Brendon Jones. The Mullets would knot one more goal with 2 minutes remaining in the third, but not enough to stop the Moose from taking its first game in history!

In net for the Minnesota Moose was #1 Kevin Hale(Palmer, Alaska) turning away 28 shots with most shots coming on a Mullets strong power play. Mullets goaltender #31 Jack Bostedt turned away 30 shots in the contest.

The Moose play on the road this Friday, September 22nd vs the Minnesota Blue Ox(Coon Rapids) at 7:00pm. The Moose will be back home in front of its home crowd on Saturday, September 23rd at 8:10pm vs the Steele County Blades. The game will include some giveaways including a huge grill, a Flatscreen TV raffle, Moose merchandise, and more. Come out to Fogerty Ice Arena Saturday night to help the Moose win another home game. The Moose will also be featuring its “Moose Lounge”. It is $20 admission in the Moose Lounge which includes unlimited beer and food!
