The Minnesota Moose, proud members of the USPHL are excited to announce another player committing to an ACHA D1 program. Moose 1998 forward Ryan Kelly from Lombard, IL has committed to play the next 4 years of hockey at Illinois State in Normal, IL a suburb of Bloomington.

The 2017-2018 season was Ryan’s first year of junior hockey and was a memorable one at that. Kelly tallied 6 goals and 9 assists in 49 total games played and had a total of 34 penalty minutes. Only 4 other players played more games than Ryan last season.

From Head Coach Jon Jonasson, “We are extremely proud to see Ryan find a home at the collegiate level for next season, our goal for this hockey program is to see players move on to the next level when they are ready and Kelly is ready. Ryan brings a lot to the table to as a hockey player with his speed, work ethic and aggressive play. He brings just as much off the ice, while in a Moose uniform he was very well liked in the locker room and a fan favorite around the rink. I wish the most success for Ryan in his next 4 years as a Redbird, they are getting a fantastic person to represent their hockey program and institution.”

From Ryan Kelly, “I would like to thank my family and the coaches along the way for all the support they have given to make me the player and person I am today. I am very excited about my next 4 years at Illinois State.”

Ryan Kelly is the fourth Moose player to commit to college this season, with more to come. The Minnesota Moose take pride in being one of the most premier programs in advancing players to the next level whether it be NCAA, ACHA, NAIA or Tier 2 juniors.
